The project team published a research synopsis article with Futurum Science Careers in Feb 2023 called “How Can Place Attachment Improve Scientific Literacy?”
This poster presents findings from a study comparing the engagement, learning, and value between virtual and physical versions of the Mystery Skulls exhibit, which were designed to elicit productive struggle. Findings showed that there were no significant differences between the two versions in terms of what participants learned and valued from the exhibit, but participants who used the virtual version had longer use times than those engaged in the physical exhibit. Enable participants to contribute to any or all stages of the scientific process and enhance their learning using an online citizen science platform and live bird cams.
Generate new scientific knowledge about wildlife.
Advance the understanding of effective project design for co-created online citizen-science projects at a national scale.

● Develop an interactive microscopy exhibit platform
● Design the platform to work for various types of microscopic samples
● Create a platform that is accessible and extensible to small- and mid-sized ISE venues
