Although virtual conferences have become commonplace in the age of COVID-19, this format poses both challenges and opportunities for organizers to design, implement, and engage participants in productive and connected ways. The development of character is a valued objective for many kinds of educational programs that take place both in and outside of school. This poster shows the development of the project Scientists for Tomorrow during the three years of its implementation: two first years under the full funding of the NSF and the third year as a no-cost extension. Also the poster describes how the project was incorporating more community centers and with it more participants through the development of the "self-sustained" mode of implementation. The poster introduces also the next step of the project - the Scientists for Tomorrow - National Alliance.
In 2008, with funding from The Noyce Foundation, CSAS undertook a review of staff development for after-school STEM. A select group of CSAS members, representing key staff development providers, formed a community of practice. The discussions of that community, combined with the existing research base, were used to create this report. I hope you will find the report useful in defining the need for after-school STEM staff development, a range of strategies, and the priorities for future projects.
