Eclipse 2017 in Libraries: The Impact of Providing 2.1 Million Eclipse Glasses and Support to 7,100 Libraries Nationwide

With support from the Moore Foundation, Google, NASA, and the Research Corporation, we were able to distribute 2.1 million eclipse glasses (and an extensive booklet of eclipse information and outreach ideas) to approximately 7,100 public, school, tribal and military libraries throughout the U.S. This project was the single largest program to provide glasses and eclipse information to the public in the country for the 2017 total eclipse. Poster: Is One More Successful than the Other? Comparing Evaluation Findings Across Beyond Spaceship Earth Project Components

This poster, which was presented at the Association of Science and Technology Centers Annual Conference on October 22, 2017, compares and contrasts evaluation findings across components of the Beyond Spaceship Earth project at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis. The project focuses on educating families and students about life and work aboard the International Space Station and generating interest in STEM topics and careers. Project components reviewed include an exhibit, a space object theater, and workshop-style programs focused on engineering and robotics for both families and school

NASA Informal Education: Final Report - A Descriptive Analysis of NASA's Informal Education Portfolio: Preliminary Case Studies

As part of its continuing effort to maximize efficiency by assessing the effectiveness of its efforts, NASA’s Office of Education contracted with Abt Associates in July 2009 to evaluate the Informal Education Program. The goals of the evaluation are twofold: (1) to gain insight into its investment in informal education; and (2) to clarify existing distinctions between its informal education and outreach efforts.
