February 29, 2016 | Public Programs, Professional Development, Conferences, and Networks, Informal/Formal Connections
The Driven to Discover: Citizen Science Inspires Classroom Investigation project (D2D2) aims to impact instruction, curriculum, and student outcomes in the life sciences both at the middle school and high school levels. The project is focused on developing teacher and student citizen science (CS) skills, as well as engaging teachers and students in scientific investigations through CS. Project activities include: an intensive summer program that supports teacher professional development (PD); ongoing support for CS-related science activities in the classroom throughout the school year; and student research presentations in public venues, including a project-sponsored ecology fair. This report includes information about our first year of implementation.
