Media Convening (2011)

The CAISE Media Convening was held July 12-13, 2011, in order to identify and prioritize critical issues faced by ISE media producers, and then develop a set of shared objectives to collectively begin to organize around. Participants clearly identified needs such as wanting to learn more about each other's projects, building a better evidence base to articulate the impacts and value of ISE media, and the need to bring more young professionals into the community. Suggestions included thinking more deeply about audiences and experimenting with engagement strategies, as well as more innovative uses of social media technologies to reach underserved, niche, and networked learners. After two days of lively conversation, convening participants settled around three areas of action with some initial assignments. Download the Media Convening Outcomes above for more information.

The need for a follow-up convening was also identified and funded by NSF in 2012. It was led by Richard Hudson from Twin Cities Public Television.

This convening also informed the planning and topics of the the 2012 ISE PI Meeting which took place March 14-16th in Washington, DC.
