Professional Bio

Holly Walter Kerby teaches chemistry and playwriting at Madison Area Technical College where she won the Teaching Excellence Award in 2007. She’s worked as a chemist and manager in industry, and as a research specialist and teacher in K-12 education. Her plays appear in Rosebud and The Art of the One-Act: An Anthology, and have been produced in theaters across the country. In 2006 Kerby founded Fusion Science Theater to develop science outreach events that use theater and participatory learning to teach basic science concepts. This project was awarded an NSF ISE planning grant in 2007.
Kerby holds degrees in chemistry and soil biochemistry from the College of Wooster and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She studied playwriting at Western Michigan University and University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed a Teacher Certification Program at the latter institution. Kerby is a member of the Dramatists Guild, America Chemical Society, National Science Teachers Association, and International Museum Theater Alliance.
