Professional Bio
I am the Director, of Internal Audit and Evaluation for the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation in Hull, Quebec. In my capacity as evaluator I work with Management and exhibition teams to conduct both quantitative and qualitative studies to improve exhibitions at both the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau and at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. I have a Master of Fine Arts degree in the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works from the State University of New York at Oneonta. Recent work includes an extensive visitor study for the First People’s Hall permanent exhibition that included new techniques for measuring learning in visitors to museums. In addition to the numerous smaller formative, front-end, and summative studies that are conducted each year, every summer I carries out a significant study of visitors to the CMC that provides the CMC with longitudinal data on its visitors in order to measure its performance as well as helping to evaluate and make adjustments to its programmes.
As Internal Auditor I provide monitoring, assessment and analysis of organizational risks and controls; and review and confirm information as well as CMCC’s compliance with policies, procedures, and laws. Working in partnership with management, I provides the Board of Trustees, the audit committee, and executive management assurance that risks are controlled and, when there is room for improvement anywhere within the organization, I make recommendations for enhancing processes, policies, and procedures. The latest audits for the CMCC are an audit of the contracting section, the managemetn of the Research Department and an audit of Pay and Benefits.
