CAISE Activities

CAISE was one of the resource centers funded by the NSF’s Division of Research on Learning in Formal and Informal Settings (DRL) within the Education and Human Resources (EHR) directorate that support and connect principal investigators and their projects.

The AISL resource center, which became known as CAISE, was initially established in 2007. In August 2022, its last funding cycle ended. CAISE’s efforts were coordinated with the National Informal STEM Education Network, the Center for Public Engagement with Science and Technology at the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the National Alliance for Broader Impacts, the Center for Engagement & Training in Science & Society at Arizona State University, the Research + Practice Collaboratory, and others.
